Let’s get creative and make some Quilled Christmas Greeting Cards that will bring cheer to whomever you send them to. They are such a unique work of art, inspiration, and creativity that everyone will fall in love with them.
In this tutorial, you are going to make your own handmade quilled greeting cards. So, get your supplies together, and let’s get started.

Supplies:
- 3mm quilling strips of paper in various colors (the strips used for the purpose of this tutorial are 39cm in length (15.35”)
- Quilling tool

Tips
- Tearing, rather than cutting, helps the paper ends blend when gluing so that you don’t see the perfect cut in the final product.
- You really don’t have to measure. Everything here is made with either a full 39cm (15.35”) strip, ½ strip, or ¼ strip.
- To keep your glue from clogging when you are using this tiny applicator, rest it upside down on a damp sponge.
- Take your quilling tool and gently roll over the edges of your pieces to get them even.
Getting the Cardstock Set Up
Get your cardstock set up first. You’re going to be making 5×7 greeting cards, so you’ll want to cut your cardstock to 10×7.
Using a scoring tool, score each card at 5 inches along the 10-inch side.
Fold each card along the scoring line and press with the bone tool. Your cardstock is set up for 5×7 greeting cards and you can now get to the fun part of creating.
Quilled Hanging Ornament Greeting Card
Starting with the heart-shaped elements, take 8 strips of red and roll each into a loose coil, using the #17 circle template, glue to secure.
TIP: The template is optional, but it does help you get all your loose coils the same size.
Shape each loose coil into a teardrop shape then glue 2 together to create a heart shape.
For the center of the ornament, take 1 red strip and roll into a loose coil, sizing with the #15 circle template, glue to secure then shape into a star shape.
Using ½ strip of red, roll into a tight coil, glue to secure. Take another ½ strip of red and roll into a loose coil, sizing with the #10 circle template, glue to secure and shape into a half-circle.
To make the bow, take two ½ strips of red and wind each around the third tier of the teardrop Quill On, glue to secure.
Use your fingernail to keep the edges even.
Using 1 strip of red, wind around the bottom of the circle Quill on. Glue to secure.
Take ½ strip of red and fold in half. Fold each of the outer ends down to be even with the fold, as shown above.
Curl the ends.
Using a stamp and ink pad, add a sentiment to the front of your card.
Start by gluing down the outer circle of your ornament. Then add the half circle and small tight coil to the top, as shown in the photo.
Add the star shape to the center of the circle and then the heart-shaped pieces. Glue down the folded piece as shown, then add the bow pieces and your first card is complete.
Quilled Christmas Present Greeting Card
Take 12 strips of red and roll each into a tight coil.
Take 15 green strips and roll each into a tight coil.
Stamp your card with a sentiment and glue the foundation row as shown.
Glue the rest of the tight coils as shown and this card is complete.
Quilled Merry and Bright Christmas Greeting Card
For this card, you could use a calligraphy pen and write the sentiment on the front of the card.
Take 6 strips of various colors and roll each into a loose coil, sizing with the #15 circle template, then glue to secure. Shape each into a teardrop shape creating your light bulbs.
Lay each of your little bulbs randomly on the front of your card. Don’t glue these down yet just lay them there for placing. Take your calligraphy pen and draw the little square for each bulb, setting aside the bulbs as you go. Draw your connecting line between each of the squares.
Glue each of your bulbs onto your card and this card is finished.
Quilled Stocking Greeting Card
Using about thirty ½ strips, roll each into a loose coil, removing from the quilling tool and allowing them to unwind naturally in your fingers. You won’t use the sizing template this time as the coils don’t necessarily need to be the same size.
You’ll roll about ten white ½ strips the same way.
Take a strip of green and wind around the 5th tier of the teardrop Quill On.
Stamp the front of your card with a sentiment.
Glue your pieces to the front of your card as shown.
TIP: Arrange all your pieces on your card before you start gluing so that you can see how you want to lay it out.
Quilled Christmas Tree Greeting Card
Roll twenty-one ½ strips of green into a loose coil, allowing them to unroll naturally in your fingers. Again, these don’t have to be perfectly sized.
Roll a brown strip into a loose coil and shape it into a square.
Roll about eight ¼ strips of red into tight coils for the ornaments.
For the star, roll five ¼ strips of gold into loose coils. Allow to unroll naturally and shape each into a marquis shape.
Stamp the front of the card with a sentiment.
Again, lay your pieces on the card to get your placement, then glue in place as shown.
Quilled Candle Greeting Card
For the flame, roll ½ strip of yellow into a loose coil and shape into a teardrop.
For the candle, roll four strips of white into loose coils and shape each into a curved marquis.
For the holly leaves, roll three strips of green into loose coils and shape them into holly leaves.
For the other two leaves, glue ½ white strip to the end of a green strip. Roll, starting with the green end, into loose coils. Shape one into a curved teardrop and the other into a curved marquis.
For the greenery stems, glue a white strip on top of a green strip. You’ll need two of these glued strips.
For the one on the left, fold your strip, referring to the finished card photo above.
Add a dab of glue between the folds. You’ll have to hold this together until the glue sets.
It should look similar to this.
For the stem on the right, start by folding it in half. Come down a bit and fold the two pieces up then down again, as in this photo.
Glue as you go, or this piece will keep coming apart. You will have to hold for a few moments until the glue sets.
Continue, by folding the two long pieces up, then down again, until you no longer have much of the straight piece.
Roll three ½ strips of red into a tight coil. You can shape them into a dome using this quilling half-ball-making board.
You can also shape them into a dome using the end of your quilling tool. To help them keep their dome shape, rub glue over the top of the dome and you can even put some on the back side, inside the dome.
Stamp your sentiment on the front of your card.
You can also stamp or write a sentiment on the inside of your card.
Glue your pieces into place as shown and your card is finished.
